Hi everyone,
I've been working very hard on a new site, and this past weekend we finally
unveiled it. It's called Literate Machine and can be found at
http://www.literatemachine.com .

It is a website that allows anyone to upload ebooks, comics or other digital
content and sell or give it away, and also provides a MySpace-style
community around it. The site can be used for sales and also simply for
publicity. Those of you on this list who are published authors might
consider, for example, putting up a first chapter sample of your book and
then a link to where someone might buy it, or even talk to your publishers
about putting up a whole ebook for sale.

Below is the contents of the general email we sent out to the new Literate
Machine mailing list which further explains what we do.

Thanks,
Eric Rosenfield

Dear friends,

We would like to welcome you to the long-awaited Literate Machine at
www.literatemachine.com. Literate Machine is a meeting place for a
community of creators and fans of digital content, where you can freely
exchange ideas, reach out to the greater public, put up your work for sale
or give out free samples.

You can upload your own digital comics, ebooks, magazines, artworks and
other digital media. Literate Machine is completely free to use unless you
sell something, in which case we receive a commission as a percentage of the
sale. From this commission we handle all of the credit-card transactions and
fees.

We are just starting, and besides whatever content you might want to add to
the site, we also need your comments, your criticism, and your ideas on what
we can do to make Literate Machine better, and what Literate Machine needs
to do to serve your needs.

You can reach us at
Info at LiterateMachine.com
or though the website.
